TA Coalition Webinar: Preventing and Managing Suicide in an Outpatient Setting

Submitted by admin on Tue, 03/22/2022 - 12:45

A SAMHSA sponsored two-part series webinar presented by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, took place Monday, February 7, 2022 from 3:30-5:00pm Eastern Time (Part One) and Friday, February 11, 2022 from 3:00-4:00pm Eastern Time (Part Two) called “Preventing and Managing Suicide in an Outpatient Setting”.

Suicide prevention and management can seem overwhelming for any workforce, but as the number of deaths by suicide keep increasing, it becomes a necessary health issue to be addressed within an outpatient setting as much as possible. There is an opportunity to enhance the identification and management of individuals with suicidality so that there is less reliance on referring those individuals to the local emergency department, which can place further strain on the healthcare system and increase potential exposure risk to COVID-19. During the webinar session attendees will …

•Explore the context for suicide prevention and management in an outpatient setting

•Gain an understanding on the development and use of a suicide care pathway and assessment strategies

•Receive support around building internal capacity for suicide prevention with practical interventions and best practices

•Discuss further considerations and future directions for suicide prevention and management
